Intel’s latest processors are built for more than just speed, with a renewed focus on improving video call quality on Intel’s Evo-branded laptops. The branding of the Evo platform aims to make the shopping experience easier, so customers don’t have to look at specifications to determine if a laptop PC will meet their needs. Evo represents a certain standard, and Intel recently clarified how the certification has evolved to meet user needs in 2022.
Starting as Project Athena in 2019, the Intel Evo has arrived in 2020 with higher standards. Each year, Intel continues to raise the bar to qualify for the Evo brand. For example, Evo laptops should have over nine hours of battery life while displaying a full HD screen. Also, at least 4 hours of battery life should be possible with just half an hour of charging. Also, awakening should occur in less than a second. Those were challenging goals in 2020 and they only got more challenging.
Intel recently outlined its upcoming 12th-generation laptop processors and what qualifying for the Intel Evo brand will mean for laptops with these new chips. Much of the focus was on improving the quality of video calls, with full-HD camera quality or better, AI image enhancement that includes optional smart framing, eye contact correction, and skin smoothing. Image quality is essential, but audio quality is necessary, so Intel also introduced new AI-based noise filtering. During a Zoom call, the company demonstrated just how good it could be. The video showed a person on a call with a vacuum cleaner running in the background. Intel’s Dynamic Background Noise Suppression reduced the vacuum’s hum and hum so that the person in the foreground could be heard. More than 100 designs have been created for the 3rd Gen Intel Evo laptop with 150 ecosystem partners, so finding the perfect laptop should be easy.
More than eight designs for Intel Evo-branded laptops will feature Intel’s new Visual Sensing Controller. Intel has been exploring new computer vision technology for some time now. This latest feature enables Wake on Approach and Walk Away Lock, some convenient features that get the laptop ready when the user arrives and shuts down when the user leaves without closing the lid. This keeps the computer safe from the moment the owner moves in, but provides easy access to pick up where you left off.
More than 15 designs include 5G connectivity for fast internet for work on the go. Intel also reiterated that more foldable designs are coming, with an entire side of the laptop being filled with the screen. With 12th Gen Core processors that reach new levels of performance and efficiency, improved Iris Xe graphics and Wi-Fi 6E for faster internet, these latest Intel Evo laptops will be ready for reliable productivity, casual use and even a little match.
