The Motorola O Edge+ (2022) is Moto’s newest high-end smartphone. If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, here’s what Motorola has confirmed about the phone’s release date. In recent years, Motorola has had a calculated focus on budget and mid-range creation. The first Moto G stood out as the best-selling Motorola phone in 2013, and since then, Motorola’s emphasis on affordable devices has continued to increase.
Despite its preference for affordable smartphones, that’s not to say Motorola has totally ignored the flagship space. Motorola has experimented with foldable smartphones a few times with its revived Razr brand. It has also released some high-end models with the Motorola Edge series – including the mid-range Motorola Edge (2021) which launched in the US last August. Now, in February 2022, Motorola has decided to do it all with the Motorola Edge+ (2022).
For all intents and purposes, the Motorola Edge+ (2022) is a direct competitor to phones like the Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13. It’s rocking a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz and a massive 4800mAh battery — just to name a few of the highlights. It is without a doubt one of Motorola’s most exciting phones in a long time. So when can you go out and buy it? Unfortunately, Motorola has yet to confirm the Edge+ release date. The phone was announced on February 24, 2022, but as of now, Motorola just says the release date is ‘coming soon’.
What does “soon” mean? It’s hard to say now. The Motorola Edge+ could be released in February, March or a few months from now. The only hint provided by Motorola is that carrier versions of the Motorola Edge+ are heading to Verizon, Boost Mobile, and Republic Wireless “in the coming months.” An unlocked version is scheduled to be released sometime before that, but exactly when remains a mystery.
When that unlocked version actually launches, Motorola says it will be available on Amazon, Best Buy, and on its own website. The US retail price for the Edge+ is $999, but for a limited time at launch, it will be available for just $899. That’s a solid price for the specs offered by the Edge+, but it’s still more expensive. than the Galaxy S22, Pixel 6, and even the iPhone 13. Does this give Motorola an uphill battle to fight with the Edge+ (2022)? Absolutely. Still, it’s great to see Motorola continue to tap into the mainstream market – even if the release date information still remains a mystery.
